Buffalo NAS Navigator locks up my XP PC by utilizing all capability. The only way to solve the problem, temporarily, is through Task manager to stop the program from running. I have to do this frequently. I only have one external storage drive (Buffalo). Do I need this NAS Navigator software on my PC or can I uninstall it.

You only need this software if the storage device is attached to your network using a network cable. Other than than, there is no need to have the software installed on your computer and it can be removed safely without having an impact on your computer's performance.
